THE chairman of a meeting to discuss Wantage Community Hospital has said a ‘concrete plan of action’ on its future will be decided next month.
Councillor Arash Fatemian, chair of Oxfordshire Joint Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee (HOSC), said: “I am well aware of the strength of feeling around Wantage Hospital and it is fantastic to see so many people marching in support of a local facility.
Responding to Wantage and Grove Campaign Group letter, he continued: “At its September meeting, the committee expects a concrete plan of action, with timescales and deadlines etc, on plans and consultation for the future of Wantage Hospital.
He acknowledged that the delay of a planned consultation ‘a point of frustration’.
After two years in limbo, the hospital remains ‘temporarily’ closed - sparking a near 1,000 person protest march last month.
The meeting, at 10am on September 20, is at County Hall, Oxford. A similar meeting is scheduled a week later.
