OXFORD North Rotary Club has raised £10,000 for homeless charity the Gatehouse through a series of fundraising activities over the the last year.

Members organised a range of money-spinning events including the club's annual ‘Rowathon‘, a hearty ‘Beaujolais Breakfast’ and a concert of piano music for the left hand given by pianist Stefan Warzycki.

The Gatehouse is a drop-in cafe providing a calm, safe refuge for people who are homeless or vulnerably housed.

Club president David Bloch said: "Working as an Oxford tour guide taking visitors around our beautiful and affluent city, I have seen first-hand the harsh realities of being homeless.

"Also my own experiences volunteering at the Gatehouse have given me further insights into the brutal conditions suffered by individuals trying to survive without a home."

Katrina Horne, project director of the Gatehouse, said: “We are incredibly grateful for the support that Oxford North Rotary Club has provided over a number of years, but, in particular, a donation of this size when we have been under increasing pressure from the growth of homelessness in recent years, is a real lifesaver."
