A MAN who broke into a home using a spade and stole jewelley and electrical equipment was jailed for two years.
Justin Bourton, 40, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to one count of burglary following a hearing at Oxford Crown Court on Friday.
Bourton broke into a property in Fawler near Wantage in between July 20 and 21, using a spade to force entry into the property.
He carried out a search of the house and stole high value jewellery and electrical items.
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Dan Tibble based at Abingdon police station, said: "This investigation required an extensive forensic search and gathered overwhelming evidence which secured a guilty plea from the offender.
"Thames Valley Police is committed to investigating burglaries and bringing those to justice who seek to break into peoples homes in order to deprive them of their valuables to make a profit.
"I am satisfied that Bourton has been convicted and sentenced."
