BLACKWELL’S Bookshop is to stage a special day to celebrate the works of JRR Tolkien.
The bookstore is highlighting the author of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings to coincide with the Bodleian’s Weston Library exhibition Tolkien: Maker of Middle-earth, which runs until October 28.
The day of celebrations will take place on Saturday, August 18.
The day will start with a talk by Tolkien scholar John Garth, who wrote the acclaimed biography Tolkien and the Great War in 2003. Mr Garth has also contributed a chapter on the Inklings in Tolkien: Maker of Middle Earth, Catherine McIlwaine’s book on the Bodleian exhibition. Email events.oxford@blackwell.co.uk
