THE Liberal Democrats won a city council by-election held yesterday.
The party’s candidate Stef Garden won 949 votes, beating the Labour Party’s Simon Ottino into second place. He won 419 votes.
The Conservatives’ Georgina Gibbs was third, with 124 votes, and the Green Party’s Ray Hitchins was fourth with 67 votes.
It means the Lib Dems hold the Headington seat vacated by Ruth Wilkinson when she resigned in May because of family reasons.
