Sir - It's good to see Oxford coming to its senses over our ageing ice rink.

With the rink out of the way, perhaps we could turn our attention to other old buildings that are no longer fit for purpose. The castle has no useful defensive function. The Divinity School was put up more than 500 years ago. When was Divinity last taught in this draughty hall?

And many college buildings are showing signs of age, in scuffed or eroded stonework, lack of modern en suite facilities and so on. Bring 'em all down, say I, and let's have something in their place to take Oxford, town and gown, through the next 25 years in fine style.
