THE funeral of a Second World War veteran who was part of the D-Day landings takes places tomorrow in Witney.
St Mary’s Church will host the service for Patrick Churchill, who was one of the first to storm the beaches of Normandy in 1944.
The service starts at 1pm, and wellwishers are also invited to join a small tribute at the war memorial on the green afterwards including the playing of the Last Post.
The decorated war hero died aged 94 on June 28.
He is survived by his son Francis.
