A STUDENT left references to a 'loner' rapper after killing himself in his halls of residence.
Callum Webb, 19, rigged up his computer system to start playing a YouTube video of Beamer Boy, a song by American singer Lil Peep, when officers began talking in his room after discovering his body.
DC Darren Little, of Thames Valley Police, told an inquest into the death that it was likely the video was intended to be activated by those finding him.
Known for his offensive lyrics and 'emo-style hip-hop', Lil Peep's song features lyrics such as "I'm never comin' home now, all alone now, can't let my bros down."
No other note was left by the teen, described as a 'great friend' by other students at Oxford Brookes University.
Coroner Darren Salter said: "The lyrics did not refer to ending ones' life but one could see them as dark although I'm not sure that is the right phrase."
The Japanese and Computer Science student was found by a night porter at the Harcourt Hill campus of the university on March 26.
Pathologists recorded the cause of death as asphyxiation due to hanging.
Concerns had been raised as to the whereabouts of Mr Webb after he had not been seen for around three days.
The key fob for his door had last been activated at 6.14am on March 24 and it is likely he had been dead for at least 24 hours.
Oxford Coroner's Court heard how the suicide had come as a shock to friends and family as Mr Webb had been making plans for the future including reconciling with a girlfriend in his home town of Whaley Bridge, Derbyshire and finding work as a computer intern.
