A DAD-of six has created a stir by sharing his ideas to transform iconic Witney buildings.

Gavin Hyatt mocked up several pictures in reaction to ceaseless speculation over which businesses may set up shop in the town.

The 39-year-old took the speculation to its extreme – including transforming the town’s famous Buttercross into a KFC.

Mr Hyatt perhaps got a little more than he bargained for when he posted the images on Facebook.

While many saw the funny side, some were left aghast after believing they were real plans. Many urged him not to give developers any ideas.

He said: “There are now over 330 likes on the initial photo and I have had messages from people congratulating me on my work. I’m also still seeing people horrified by what they think are real images, some of them very vocal.

“It was all just a bit of fun and I’m glad that it has brightened up so many people’s days and at the same time shown that people really do care about the town and what goes on.”

Mr Hyatt did not stop with his KFC design.

He also superimposed an image of an adult store onto the vacant unit left behind by Argos and put a car park underneath the town hall.

Mr Hyatt said: “I am interested to see what appears in the place of Argos and what Witney is going to look like in the future. I would really like to see a few more things for kids to do and perhaps a little more nightlife.”
