A BUDDING young actor from an Oxford theatre group has won an award for best performance.

Danny Mohideen, of the North Oxford Youth Theatre (NOYT), picked up the Daphne Marshall Award for Best Performance by an under 18 at the Henley Drama Festival 2018.

The team of six from NOYT performed the short play ‘Chatroom’, a story about manipulation, cyberbullying and adolescent insecurity.

Continuing a history of NOYT success at the Festival, the accolade follows numerous awards over the last 10 years with many ex-members going on to star in other high profile performances including Shakespeare at The Oxford Castle.

Based in Wolvercote Village Hall, NOYT caters for members aged 10 to 17.

It organises an annual programme of events which has been virtually unchanged since 1959 and includes a mid-winter musical production, the festival play in spring, a set of short plays in summer and a drama weekend camp in July.

The group is looking for new members and is open to anyone with no need to audition. After the summer holidays, the group will start rehearsals for the mid–winter production. Contact noytinfo@gmail.com
