THIS ‘bullnose Mini’ is set to take pride of place as Cowley Road Carnival returns this weekend.
Apprentices in the Cowley plant have been hard at work with local artist Andrew ‘Mani’ Manson and Simon Tipping from the carnival to create the colourful float in homage to Oxford’s car manufacturing heritage.
Featuring a giraffe and elephant poking out the sun roof and giant rotating bamboo wheels, the car has flashing lights for eyes and a stereo to play music on the day.
Plant apprentice Jon Light, 23, said: “Working with Mani and Simon has been one of the most interesting and at times most bizarre things I’ve ever done. I think we were all a bit hesitant at first, but once we got going on the car it was such a buzz to be allowed to create something so unique.”
