A GROUP of travellers who have been camped on a park in Kidlington for several days have now left the area.

Councillor Maurice Billington has been working to get the group moved on since they arrived at Ron Groves Park on Wednesday.

He says people in the area are 'delighted' now the caravans are gone.

Police have echoed his delight, saying the departure was 'great news'.

Mr Billington said the group, which had about a dozen caravans, have left behind a 'right mess' with 'rubbish everywhere'.

In Kidlington, Ron Groves Park was closed to the public this morning, with Mr Billington saying it posed an 'environmental problem'.
