A LONG-SERVING Chinese takeaway in Jericho could close down and be replaced by a Japanese restaurant.
Plans to close Kowloon House in Walton Street and build a rear extension to incorporate a new Japanese restaurant have been submitted to Oxford City Council.
The applicant Yoko Fusa, also a director of the company running Koto in North Parade, wants to reconfigure the takeaway - moving the kitchen downstairs and extending the premises to seat close to 40 diners.
In the plans, she said: "This proposal seeks to make best use of the available property, in a way that makes it viable into the future, and an attractive venue that enhances and widens the range of local outlets within Walton Street."
She added that the extension needed to be granted to make the scheme viable.
A decision could be made by June 28.
