A NEW record label has been launched in Oxford, promising releases in folk, alt-pop, jazz and experimental genres.
Upcycled Sounds bills itself as a label 'run by musicians for musicians' and has developed a 'collaborative' distribution model that allows the artist to retain the rights to their own material.
It has existed as an independent sound production company in Oxford for the last five years and is now branching out into releasing new music.
There are already 10 musicians signed up including Jack Durtnall, who was featured on BBC Radio 1's Introducing Track of the Week and Limpet Space Race, a duo who mix folk, jazz and pop.
The label was launched with a a gig in Truck Store, Cowley Road on Thursday.
Artists have access to professional releases and publicity from a label and become part of a community that works together to promote each others’ releases and gigs, contribute to each others' recordings and experiment with new music.
