POLICE have released a video explaining why they have stepped up house raids in the fight against drug dealing.
More than 100 officers raided eight houses in Banbury yesterday - the most recent action in the Operation Stronghold campaign which targets organised crime.
Officers said they have so far found and seized £10,000 in cash, around 700 wraps of class A drugs, one stun gun, several stolen items and several knives.
There were 16 arrests made across all the addresses and in other properties in Milton Keynes and Bedford.
In a video released by the force following the raids, LPA Commander for Cherwell and West Oxfordshire Superintendent Mark John said they were part of an ongoing investigation into the supply of heroin and cocaine in the area.
He added: "Today's operation is not just about enforcement, it is also about supporting vulnerable people.
"Officers, PCSOs with their partners were visiting drug users and offering support and an opportunity to divert from their drug use.
"I would also like to urge anybody who feels they are being exploited or who has information about the drug supply in Banbury to come forward."
