The lives of sick youngsters and their families will be made a little more comfortable thanks to the fundraising efforts of an Oxford recording studio.

Cowley-based Studio 45 organised a charity gig with proceeds of £3,400 going to ROSY (Respite for Oxfordshire's Sick Youngsters).

The money has helped the charity appoint a fourth nurse and extend the nursing hours it offers to families.

ROSY secretary George Hedges said: "All money raised is used in some way to help Oxfordshire's sick youngsters, be it paying for respite nurses or vital equipment.

"Appointing a fourth nurse is great news for the charity. The nurse's duties range from administering medicine through to providing much-needed support for families.

"Most of the terminally-ill children in Oxfordshire can be nursed at home now, which is what we all want."

Studio 45 has been involved with raising money for ROSY since last year.

Events organiser Cheryl-Lee Foulsham, said: "I am a parent myself so appreciate how difficult it must be for families with sick children. It is very important to us that we help to raise funds for this charity.

"At Studio 45, we run promotional gigs through our artist development campaigns, so the idea of organising a concert using our contacts and artists seemed a brilliant way to go about fundraising, not to mention a very enjoyable challenge."

The family that benefited from a specialist buggy told Rosy that "without it we would have been unable to cope".

Ms Foulsham added: "Our aim is to raise £10,000 - and judging from the support we have already had we are confident we can achieve this.

"All money will go directly to ROSY to help Oxfordshire's sick youngsters.

"We are really looking forward to another successful fundraising event."
