A MAN was arrested on suspicion of drug driving after a head-on smash in Didcot.

Police and firefighters attended the two-car crash at about 8am in Broadway, near Aldi, yesterday.

Officers said a 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of careless driving and driving whilst over the prescribed drug limit.

Thames Valley Police said the man's blood was taken for analysis and he was released under investigation pending the result. 

Any witnesses of the crash have been asked to call police on 101 quoting reference number 200 13/3/18. 

Officers cordoned off part of the road after the head-on collision, with severe delays through the town centre.

TVP Roads Policing shared an image of the crash, showing the crushed bonnet of a dark-coloured car and debris scattered across the road. 

South Central Ambulance Service said they attended the scene but were told to stand down by officers.
