SUSPECTED ram-raiders have once again struck an Oxfordshire supermarket in an early morning smash-and-grab.
This was the scene at Oxford's Waitrose supermarket, Botley Road, shortly before 9am on Sunday morning.
A Land Rover Defender was abandoned outside the main entrance with a cable attached to the rear.
A cash machine had reportedly been stolen during the break-in which occured in the early hours of the morning.
Thames Valley Police, who put up a cordon this morning, said that they were first alerted at 1.34am.
Spokesperson Charlotte Redman said: "We were called to Waitrose, Botley Road to reports that a cash point machine had been stolen.
"Police attended. A scene watch is in place and the investigation is on-going.
"If anyone saw anything suspicious around this time please call 101 and quote reference 90 (11/3).”
The store has since re-opened.
The raid is the sixth such apparent attack on a supermarket in recent months.
Just three days ago a gang of thieves used a stolen Land Rover to target a cash machine at Morrisons in Carterton.
Last month raiders smashed into Aldi at Horspath Driftway to steal a cash point.
Prior to that Chipping Norton, Charlbury and Grove have all been targetted by ram-raiders, with varying degrees of success.
It is not yet known if the attacks are being linked.
