HEALTH fanatics had two reasons to celebrate as a festival combined yoga and veganism in Oxford for the first time.

The one-day event was held on Sunday at St Gregory the Great School in East Oxford celebrate both veganism and yoga, through stalls, talks and classes.

Kriti Sachdeva, a team member at Yogific, said: "The weather was terrible, we didn’t expect so many people to come, we put out a post on Facebook to say we were still running the event and for everybody’s support and there was a huge turnout”.

The event saw about 800 people throughout the day, including the Lord Mayor of Oxford who came to show her support for the event.

The festival had 50 stalls from companies including Chakra Project, Hasta Collection, My Wellness Edge and Clean and Natural.

The event also saw more than 30 yoga teachers from across Oxfordshire cover all types of yoga, with more than 40 sessions including meditations and talks on mental health.

Stressing the importance on mental health Ms Sachdeva said: “I think it’s important we talk.

"It seemed like everybody knew each other."

The group will be holding the event again next yea.
