A WOMAN posing as a carer stole cash after tricking her way into the home of a 92-year-old woman in Burford.

Police said a couple called at a property in Oxford Road, on Tuesday, at about 3.30pm. The woman said she was a carer and stepped past the occupant without being invited in.

The elderly woman became suspicious she refused. When she told them her son was due home in a few minutes, the couple left.

However, a purse containing £40 was stolen from her handbag.

The woman is white, 50-60 years old, medium build, with light brown hair. She was wearing a dress or a skirt that was a mix of brown shades.

The man is white, 30-40 years old, 5ft 9in tall, with short dark hair.

They may have been driving a maroon saloon car.
