Sir - A rash of yellow notice boards has appeared around Wolvercote announcing a forthcoming road painting jamboree, they seem to refer to still more permanent signs limiting the parking of motorcars.

These are apparently going to be everywhere, even the tiniest cul-de-sac will be included. These minor roads surely do not contribute significantly to the financial problems of the ever cash-hungry council. Do we really need to deface the whole of the city in order to squeeze the last drop of blood from those unfortunate to live in Oxford?
