HUNDREDS of schoolchildren will see ice hockey for free tomorrow as part of a community project to mark the start of the Winter Olympics.

Children from schools including Long Furlong School in Abingdon, West Kidlington Primary School and John Henry Newman Academy in Littlemore will watch Oxford City Star face Cardiff Fire at Oxpens with their teachers and parents.

Their trip will coincide with the events to to celebrate the beginning of the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

Abingdon-based Stars sponsors Class Act Teaching Services joined forces with the club to provide tickets.

Mark Oliver, director of Class Act, said: “Sport plays such an important part in education, both taking part and spectating and the benefits of doing so are immense.”

Stars director Greig Box Turnbull added: “We are so grateful to Class Act for this wonderful gesture.”
