A TEMPORARY expansion of the emergency department at the John Radcliffe Hospital has been completed.
The new modular building which will house GPs in the A&E department was lifted into place today.
It is part of plans announced by Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in September to put up a MTX Contracts modular building to create a ‘filtering’ service to deal with the building pressure on the hospital’s emergency departments.
Since December the streaming system has seen patients allocated to either minor of major injury units or primary care by a nurse.
The extra space will allow more GPs to work alongside staff in the emergency department.
A road closure was in place yesterday adjacent to the emergency department as the temporary buildings were lifted into position.
