AN ACTION group has objected to a developer’s plans to build 50 homes in a village near Witney.
Sharba Homes wants to build the houses on land off Charlbury Road in Hailey and a planning application will be discussed by West Oxfordshire district councillors today.
Hailey Action Group has warned that the size of the development will have a negative impact on the character of the village.
In a statement the group also points out potential changes to the number of homes needed in the UK.
The group states: “Emerging evidence shows that there may well be a reduction in the future housing needs of the district when using the Government’s proposed consistent methodology for calculating future housing requirements.
The developer, however, disagrees, suggesting its plans will bring ‘much-needed housing to Hailey’.
A West Oxfordshire District Council planning committee will discuss the application at the council’s Woodgreen offices in Witney at 2pm on Monday.
