TRIBUTES have been paid to a long-standing pub landlady and darts enthusiast who died aged 75.

Jean Cadd, a well-known community figure and the ex-landlady of the Three Horseshoes in Old Marston, died from pneumonia at her home in Old Marston on December 23.

Mrs Cadd ran the pub with her husband Michael, a parish councillor, for 28 years until its closure five years ago and was also a long-running president of the Oxford District Darts Association.

Her son Barry Cadd paid tribute to his mother and said she was ‘always doing something.’

Mr Cadd added: “She was quite a character, I can’t really describe her.

“She was a worker, always active and doing something and always up for a bit of fun. In later years she was pretty much running the pub single-handed.

“When she wasn’t behind the bar, she loved to stop and have a chat about her garden.

“She will be remembered for her dedication and commitment, particularly to the game of darts which she was very keen on.

“A lot of her work was behind the scenes, always making sure that competitions went ahead and people were given the trophies they deserved.

“She will be missed by a lot of people.”

Mrs Cadd also helped to run the pub football team and ran a garage and taxi service in Oxford for many years and her husband Michael serves as a parish councillor for Old Marston.
