A SUPERMARKET in West Oxfordshire was ram-raided by thieves last night.

The Co-op Food store in Enstone Road, Charlbury, was raided by thieves targeting the cashpoint inside at around 3.30am today.

Staff were called to the store after an alarm was activated, and upon arrival they found that the front doors had been forced open and attempts made to remove the cashpoint.

It is not believed that any cash was stolen during the incident.

A white Renault van and a silver Land Rover were recovered nearby.

Both vehicles had previously been reported as stolen and are believed to have been used in the incident.

Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Adrian Brooksbank, based at Witney police station, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident, or who has any information relating to it.

“I would also like to speak to anyone who saw these two vehicles travelling or parked together before this incident took place.

“If you have any details which you think could help our investigation, please call the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number on 101.”

Midcounties Co-operative press office has been contacted for comment.

In 2016 thieves targeted cashpoints in Co-op Food store ram-raids in Milton-under-Wychwood and Long Hanborough.

And Aldi in Chipping Norton was targeted last month.
