BICESTER teams enjoyed stunning success with two high-scoring victories over the wintry weekend.
While frost put paid to most of the league programme, Bicester’s men thrashed hosts Staines 2nd 6-1, while their ladies won 4-2 at home to Windsor.
Having lost three games in a row for the first time in many years, Bicester’s men did not enter their South League Middlesex, Berks, Bucks & Oxon Division 1 clash with great confidence.
But a hat-trick from Jamie Inshaw saw them home.
The visitors got off to a great start, when skipper Jonny Reid score with a reverse-stick shot from Gordon Brass’s pass.
Dave Sutcliffe made it 2-0 from an acute angle after a mix-up in the home defence.
Bicester had the game won after 25 minutes following a quick brace from Inshaw, who followed his close-range goal by leathering the ball into the bottom corner.
The stunned Staines side pulled a goal back before half-time.
The visitors found themselves under pressure early in the second half, but keeper Nathan Elliott made a number of good saves, while while organised defence by CJ Birtles, Stu Lock and Stu Goodacre kept them at bay.
Eventually Jordan Chesters made it 5-1, via a Lock deflection before Inshaw completed his hat-trick with a looping finish.
A brace by Nicolene Willers helped Bicester ladies to beat Windsor in their Trysports Three-Counties League Division 1 clash.
Leading scorer Willers put the hosts ahead, but Windsor scrambled home an equaliser.
Beatrice Gunn’s penalty stroke put Bicester 2-1 up at half-time.
A lofted strike from Lorraine Brickell made it 3-1 before Windsor scored with a penalty stroke.
Willers put the game beyond doubt with a cool finish.
