FOUR Oxford Salvation Army helpers rolled up their sleeves to work through the hundreds of toys donated for families in need in 1983.
The sackfuls of donations were delivered to the Citadel at St Ebbe's and made up more than 1,000 items.
Mrs Marlene Bishop was among those helping, she said: "People have been bringing items since the beginning of December.
"It has been going very well and we are pleased with the public response."
Parcels, toys and food were delivered to 500 families in the Oxford area that year and the Salvation Army hoped to get them all through by Christmas just days later.
It also received £800 in donations alongside the toys.
