RAYMOND Blanc's Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons has been revealed as the second highest rated restaurant in the world.

The Great Milton two Michelin star restaurant came second in TripAdvisor's travellers' choice award based on millions of views and opinions posted on the website over a twelve-month period.

It was behind only The Black Swan in Oldstead, North Yorkshire, which won the UK, Europe and global awards.

Mr Blanc OBE, chef patron at the restaurant, said his team valued each and every comment left by guests and always listened to feedback.

He said: "I am thrilled that we have been awarded such a wonderful accolade.

"Over the past 30 years, the world has changed immensely and we have made it our mission to ensure that we are always aware of this, whilst maintaining integrity and quality that only a knowledge and respect of tradition can bring.

"We are continually listening to the feedback of our discerning guests and value each and every comment enormously and these comments only help us to maintain and further improve our high levels of service, hospitality and cuisine.

He added: "I am immensely proud of each and every member of my team."

It is the fifth year running that the restaurant has been named in the world's top ten, rising from fourth in last year's rankings.

The British pair at the top of the pile beat competition from two of France's finest - Maison Lameloise and L'Auberge de I'll and Martin Berasategui in Spain, which completed the top five.

Le Manoir's general manager Jan-Paul Kroese said his team was proud of the accolade.

He said: "It is a great honour for Belmond Le Manoir to be awarded #2 in the UK and the #2 world in the TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Awards.

"It is indeed a huge achievement for the entire team and one that we are very proud of."
