OXFORDSHIRE has lost two of its four Michelin stars in the new guide, which was released on Monday.
The Wild Rabbit in Kingham, Chipping Norton, and the Sir Charles Napier in Chinnor have both lost their one star rating.
The Nut Tree in Murcott kept hold of its coveted star and Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons in Great Milton retained its two-star rating.
Another snub came for Orwells in Shiplake, who were largely tipped for the accolade after being named the 31st best restaurant in the country in the 2018 Good Food Guide.
However, judges did not decide to reward its food with a star.
This year, 12 restaurants across the country lost their stars while 16 gained one.
The Araki, a sushi restaurant in London became one of only four restaurants in the UK to be given a third Michelin star.
The Michelin Guide - which originated as a handbook for travellers - states that one star restaurants represent ‘very good cooking in its category’, two stars show ‘excellent cooking – worth a detour’ and three stars show ‘exceptional cuisine – worthy of a special journey.’
