DIDCOT Town’s FA Cup clash will be live streamed to thousands of fans via the BBC today.

And The Railwaymen will sport a new shirt sponsor for the first qualifying round tie after securing one of the most unlikely deals in non-league football.

Andy Ballard’s first 11 will run out against Isthmian League Premier Division leaders Billericay Town today sporting new sponsored shirts by US-based rock band Black Swan Lane.

Didcot have managed to extend their existing website arrangement with the band, and while it’s not the first time a rock or popular music act has got involved in football sponsorship, the link between Black Swan Lane and Didcot Town FC is particularly unusual since all the other arrangements involved musicians that were supporting their hometown football clubs.

The deal came about years ago when the then Didcot press officer Steve Clare met with lead singer Jack Sobel.

Mr Clare said: “I had been following the band since 2007 when they had collaborated with some musicians I know from Manchester.

"Following an exchange of emails between myself and Jack I realised the band needed promoting here in the UK and the football club were looking out for sponsors. It was an ideal opportunity for both.”

The band, based in Atlanta, Georgia, will have its name displayed on the back of club’s first team shirts come the game which kicks off at 12.30pm today.
