DISCOUNTS and dainty nibbles will help to relaunch a Headington shop, after it was given a ‘new lease of life’.
Volunteers at Headington Fairtrade worked hard over the bank holiday weekend to spruce up the shop, with a fresh lick of paint and new signage.
Customers old and new are invited to an event today marking the new chapter for the shop in London Road, which is a cooperative.
The evening of refreshments and nibbles runs from 5.30pm until 8pm and there will be a special 10 per cent discount on stock, which includes fairtrade food items, craft goods, homeware and toys.
Shop manager Maud van der Broeke said: “We are bringing it a new lease of life. We’ve been trading for seven and a half years and it was time for a revamp.
“We are inviting people to celebrate with us, we want to bring new people in and talk to them about fair trade. I feel really passionately about it.”
The shop has two staff members and a team of volunteers, and a sign outside previously identified it as ‘The Windmill’.
Oxford city councillor Roz Smith, who helps at the shop, described it as an ‘amazing’ place stuffed with gifts.
A new website will also be set up for Headington Fairtrade.
