ADVENTURERS are set to battle the elements during an inaugural charity challenge.

Child protection charity NSPCC is calling on fundraisers to join its Oxfordshire Adventure Challenge on September 16.

The fundraiser will see participants take part in a 10km trek across the Thames Path, a 12km mountain bike trail along the Thames Ridgeway and a 1.2km kayak.

Daring participants can opt for a 10km hike, 24km bike ride and 3km kayak.

Debbie Knights, NSPCC fundraising manager for Oxfordshire, said: “We are super excited to be launching the Oxfordshire Adventure Challenge this year where as well as pushing yourself and having exhilarating fun you can help raise much needed funds for the NSPCC.

“We empowered nearly 19,000 primary school children about how to stay safe from abuse by visiting 102 schools in Oxfordshire this year as part of our Speak Out Stay Safe service.

“But to reach our goal of speaking to every child at every school in the UK we will need to rely on fundraisers from events like this who account for ninety per cent of our funding.”

Participants will also receive a heart breakfast before the challenge and celebrate their achievement with a buffet.

They can also get fifty per cent off the £35 sign-up fee if they join by June 30.
