I AM obviously missing something here. What has Theresa May ‘U-turned’ from? Is it the so called ‘cap’? What is being ‘capped’, is it the cost of care or the amount a person can keep at the end?
My sister-in-law was forced to sell her apartment to finance the care she needs, she is incapable of caring for herself.
Her care home fees are nearly £1,000 per week. When her capital falls below £23,000 her care will be paid for by social services.
Under the PM’s scheme, my sisterin- law could have kept her apartment, the value of it would appreciate over the years, and at the end her estate would keep at least £100,000.
How on earth could anyone think this could be a bad thing?
As I said, I am missing something, please someone enlighten me.
