FILMMAKERS battling to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease are hoping their masterpiece will grab the attention of pop megastar Taylor Swift.

Min Reid and her squad have transformed a ‘captivating’ cover of the superstar’s 2012 love song ‘Red’ into a music video highlighting the devastating effects of the illness.

It has been crafted as a trailer for Mrs Reid’s upcoming film ‘For the Love of Fred’, set to shine a light on the progressive neurological disease.

The troupe are longing for the celebrity to spot the music video online, sharing the cover of the tune with her millions of fans across the globe.

East Oxford-based director Mrs Reid, 51, said: “If we think about Alzheimer’s disease, the lyrics take on a totally different tone. We decided to do something a little bit different.

“Rather than a trailer, we have a music video to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease.

“Hopefully she will pick up on it. I think it would be huge for awareness of Alzheimer’s disease. It would just be fantastic for her to acknowledge it.”

The music video features the vocal talents of American performer Derrick Boudwin and will officially launch at the Oxford International Film Festival today, hitting the big screen at Walton Street’s Phoenix Picturehouse.

‘For the Love of Fred’, due for release on World Alzheimer’s Day in September, follows the tale of carer Fred, who ‘loses everything’ as wife Samantha battles early-onset Familial Alzheimer’s disease - a rare hereditary form of the illness.

Mrs Reid, who collaborated with neighbour Louise Lobo on the project, said she wanted to focus on the ‘ones left behind’, adding: “It was very important to me that it was respectful and true to life. The people that are there picking up the pieces, it’s really crippling on them, and so many people don’t hae any support.”

Shots for the video and movie were filmed at two East Oxford homes in Southfield Road, as well as Oxford Brookes University’s Headington Hill Hall.

Mrs Reid, a former photographer for international modelling agency Ford Models, united with the university and called on Divinity Road Area Residents’ Association to get behind her vision. She runs music and film company Reid Richards Productions from her Southfield Road home with husband-of-four-years J.R. Richards, a platinum-selling artist of American rock band Dishwalla.
