STAFF and customers celebrated the relaunch of the Botley McDonald's which has undergone a 'total transformation’.

The fast food giant closed the Botley Road eatery three weeks ago to install new touch-screen systems for orders and to spruce up the interior.

Speaking at the grand re-opening on Tuesday franchisee Cliff Webb, 58, said that the overhaul which is part of a national scheme was the city’s first.

He said: “It has been a really good project. It is a total transformation.

“This is the newest of all the other Oxfordshire restaurants which are being refurbished.

Customers can order their meals using new tough screens and a waiting-on service has been introduced after the refurbishment.

He added: “It’s all about listening to the customers. For some years McDonalds has been saying instead of us saying this is what we want to do its listening to what our customers want.

“They want fresh, hot food served in nice surroundings. They also want a contemporary, comfortable environment.”

Shift manager Sylwia Parulska, originally from Poland who has worked at the Botley restaurant for 18 months, said the hard work had been worth it.

She said: “I am so happy with the refurbishment. I am very excited to be here and working for Cliff.

“The training for this was very good and very helpful. I am looking forward to serving the new customers.”

The first order that was served shortly after 10.30am was a large latte and a hot apple pie.

A second customer, who was visiting the McDonalds at Botley for the first time ordered a Tropicana orange juice.

Customer Victoria Tonkin, 24, told us she was impressed with the new facilities.

She said: “It does look nice but it looks a lot like all of the other new ones. They have all gone to this style new and are changing to this system.

“It does look good and is clean.”
