An Oxford pub is set to be demolished to make way for a four storey block of flats.

The former Adventurer pub - previously The Honey Pot - could be knocked down if councillors follow city council planning officers' recommendations - published this morning.

The developer Linea OX1 successfully argued there were enough pubs nearby, including The Oxford Retreat, The Lighthouse and The Punter in Osney Island, to warrant a change of use.

Oxford City Council's west area planning committee originally approved the plans last year but it was brought back following a dispute over affordable housing contribution.

Linea OX1 had claimed the scheme would not be viable with affordable housing contribution but the council disagreed and the applicant has now agreed to pay towards housing elsewhere in the city.

The block itself, in Hollybush Row just off Frideswide Square, would be made up of seven flats - five two-beds and two one-beds.

A decision is due to be made next Tuesday at Town Hall at 6pm.
