A ROAD has reopened following police investigation after a 20-year-old man was found in a critical condition by the roadside yesterday morning.
Police have said the man, who was found on the A4074 in Nuneham Courtney, was likely hit by a vehicle and today have closed the road to investigate further.
Reports showed heavy traffic due to the closure as drivers diverted through Clifton Hampden.
The road was closed between the Goldenballs and Berinsfield roundabouts for several hours while officers investigated the scene, to determine the circumstances which led to the man's injuries.
It had reopened by 3.30pm.
Investigating officer PC Victoria Jones, based at the Serious Collision Investigation Unit in Reading, yesterday said: "We are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have noticed anything unusual in the road to contact us as a matter of urgency.
"We believe now that the victim was hit by a vehicle. He is in a very serious condition and we would urge anyone who saw anything that could help us with our investigation to call us."
