POLICE have launched an investigation into historical sex crimes in the 1970s following a recent allegation of abuse.
Thames Valley Police's Child Abuse Investigation Unit said the force was in the early stages of making enquiries after a complaint was made by a member of the public last Tuesday.
The allegation made is in relation to a deceased man, who used to be a member of Oxford City Athletic Club.

Club chairman Richard Hart said the club was aware of the abuse allegation.
He added: "The welfare of children involved in athletics is paramount and we take such allegations extremely seriously.
"The club is cooperating fully with the relevant authorities to ensure any such allegation is investigated thoroughly."
Detectives encouraged anyone who has been a victim of child sexual abuse to report it, regardless of how long ago it may have taken place.
Spokesman Gareth Ford-Lloyd added: "We will listen and treat all reports sensitively and seriously. Anyone with any information regarding child sex abuse is urged to come forward."
