MATHS teaching all the way from the Far East came to Wantage as students learned the Chinese way.
Millbrook School hosted an one-off opportunity to witness how maths is taught in Shanghai in China when teachers from the country visited the school on Wednesday.
The visit tied in with The Shanghai Maths Project, a series of books published by Collins which use the way the subject is taught in China to cover the English curriculum from year one to year 11.
Pupils were able to watch a Shanghai maths lesson in action and teachers then spoke to the audience afterwards about the method and why it is proving so popular in China, before taking questions.
Shanghai maths teaching is based on a step-by-step approach which uses varied, intelligent practice to develop basic knowledge, basic skills and a thorough mastery of concepts.
Its whole-class teaching method aims to ensure every pupil can achieve a high standard in the subject.
