A 95-year-old woman's purse was stolen from her handbag in broad daylight as it hung over her walking frame in Banbury.
The pensioner was in Nilay's newsagents in High Street when two women approached her.
One of the women bent down and took the victim's purse out of her handbag while the other woman blocked her from view.
The purse contained bank cards and cash.
The incident happened last Friday at 11.13am but police did not reveal details until today.
The force has released CCTV images of two women officers believe may have information about the offence.
PC Samatha Dean said: "I believe that the people pictured in these images could have information which is vital to our investigation, so I would like to appeal to them, or anyone who knows them, to come forward and contact Thames Valley Police."
Anyone with information should call 101 and quote reference number 43160323756.
