Villagers are rallying to raise money to rebuild a barn that has been devastated by fire twice in six months.

The barn, at Manor Farm in Binsey Lane, Oxford, was burned down in February this year and neighbours helped herd cattle away from the blaze.

Olly Wills, a neighbour who helped to herd the cattle - and the lead singer of Oxford-based country rock band The Epstein - has said the band will play at a village fete in September.

Mr Wills said: "The plan is to hold a fete on the village green and get everyone involved - and we'll definitely be playing.

"We need to sort out the details but I think it will be a really good day, and it will be nice to do something to support a local business."

Charlie Gee, who has farmed the area with his father since 1999, said: "It's a very generous offer that we are very grateful for. Hopefully this will go some way to making life get back to normal."

Last week Norman Gourley, 54, was jailed for nine months for the blaze.

The Epstein will be playing at the Glastonbury Festival on Sunday after being chosen by festival organiser Michael Eavis from thousands of bands in an 'emerging talent' competition.
