THE SAE Institute welcomed one of its star graduates this week whose credits include Star Wars: The Force Awakens, to give a talk on breaking into the video game music industry.

The institute based at Littlemore held the talk with alumni Jaroslav Beck on October 12 to talk about his work on soundtracks for the Star Wars franchise, Battlefield and World of Warcraft.

Talking about his experience and coming back to where his career began he said: "Going back to SAE is kind of emotional for me.

"It is just two years since I graduated from here but a lot of things have changed since then.

"I am not a teacher or a good speaker but when a chance comes up to give back some of my experiences to the students and the institution that helped me on my journey, I can't say no."

In his talk he covered a range of areas including how trailers are made, how the cinematic industry works, and how to get a break in the industry.

One current student hoping to follow in Jaroslav's footsteps, Jan Halas, said: “The talk was inspirational and a nice reflection on the trailer and music composition of the industry.”

In May 2016 he launched a company called "Epic Music Productions" focusing on the composition of modern cinematic music. He is also member of the Czech Forbes "30 under 30" list.
