An 11-year-old girl was grabbed and punched by a gang of teenagers as she walked home last night.
The girl was walking through The Leys, in Witney, at about 5.30pm when she was attacked by five boys and one girl near the entrance to the Witney Bowling Club, Station Lane.
Some of the boys grabbed the her while a girl punched her in the face.
The gang are believed to all be aged about 15 or 16-years-old.
Pc Nigel Lomas, investigating the incident, said: "The girl was left with a nasty injury to her eye and was very shocked by what happened.
"This was an unprovoked attack on a young girl and I would appeal to anyone who saw it or knows who is responsible, to come forward."
