You published three letters on the subject of cyclists jumping red lights (Oxford Mail, May 31).

Two of the writers, Matthew Ledbury and Patrick Kershaw, should hang their heads in shame for supporting this illegal action.

None of the arguments gave any consideration to the No 1 road user - the pedestrian.

Surely it doesn't take a lot of thought to realise the damage a bicycle can do to the human frame, especially the young and the elderly, if you cycle through a red light and hit them?

Though perhaps to those of the Ledbury and Kershaw ilk, it does.

Perhaps the day of the riding test and insurance for cyclists is now an absolute necessity.
