SOME of the players could still put on a smile, despite a defeat in a cup competition.
Members of the Oxford Post Office team had been beaten 2-1 in the semi-final of the Tee Bee Cup by 17 Battalion, Royal Army Ordnance Corps from Bicester in 1956.
The Tee Bee Cup was one of several competitions run by the Oxfordshire Thursday League, which provided sport for teams which could not compete on Saturdays.
The players were, back row, left to right, A Brooks, B Walker, R Walker, G Cox, D Allnutt, V Giles and P James, and front, T Parrott, A Phelps, J Pudwell and D Osborn.
