IT’S a picture that brings back memories of yesteryear – a policeman on point duty and a bus going the ‘wrong way’ in Magdalen Street, Oxford.
These were the days when Cornmarket was a main route for buses and all other traffic.
The picture was taken in 1958 to highlight “an ingenious invention by Oxford Post Office engineers to make work down manholes lighter and safer” – a plastic tent with a red flag.
