AIR show fans left dispirited by the RAF's recent Spirit of Adventure event are being offered a two-for-one ticket deal for Fly to the Past.

Held in Abingdon over the weekend of May 26 to 27, Spirit of Adventure was reduced to just one day because of bad weather.

It came under fire from dozens of members of the public who were disappointed at the cancelled second day and a perceived lack of attractions.

Now the organisers of Fly to the Past, to be held at Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, on Sunday, July 22, are offering a two-for-one offer for those who felt let down.

Anyone who went to the Spirit of Adventure event and has bought, or is considering buying, a ticket for Fly to the Past is entitled to claim another ticket free of charge.

All you need to do is ring the ticket hotline and quote promotional code SOA1 to claim your ticket.

Fly to the Past is a one-day event which concentrates on the history of aviation from its beginnings to the jet age and beyond. It has no connection to the Spirit of Adventure Event.

In a four-hour display, Second World War Spitfires, Lancasters and Mustangs will battle for supremacy of the skies.

Outside broadcast units will relay live commentary from the pilots as they take off and once in the air, screens around the site will display a mixture of live and historic footage as well as commentary.

Festival director Francis Rockliff said: "We believe Fly to the Past offers excellent value for money and we would like to think that those spectators disappointed with Spirit of Adventure will have their passion for aviation rekindled at Fly to the Past."
