AN "UNSIGHTLY" former sports club near the centre of Witney could soon be demolished is councillors give plans the go ahead on Monday.
The old clubhouse at the back of Newland, Witney, could be turned into one home and a garage alongside it. But planning officers at West Oxfordshire District Council are urging councillors to say no, as it would harm the rural area.
The build would also be too close to Madley Brook and would restrict essential maintenance and emergency access to the river.
But the applicant says the redevelopment would improve an already unsightly building.
The Lowlands planning meeting will be held on Monday at 2pm at the council's offices in Woodgreen, Witney.
