ONE particularly pesky pothole underneath the railway bridge in Botley Road was reported eight times to Oxfordshire County Council before passed on to Thames Water.
The council's highways team assessed the pothole four days after it was first reported on March 4 and ruled it was not big enough or dangerous enough for them to repair.
The council requires potholes to be the depth of a coke can or the size of dinner plate for it to repair them.
In July it was reported again with several anonymous contributors telling the Fix My Street app that it had grown and become "seriously dangerous".
Last week, shortly after the eighth complaint about the pothole, the county council informed those who reported it the problem had been passed on to Thames Water as there was a "leak under the pothole".
In the meantime the council said it was working to make it "safe" for road users, but did not reveal any more details.
